Asia Argento is reportedly out as a judge on “X-Factor Italy” following sexual assault allegations.
The 42-year-old Italian actress has reportedly been cut from the show and will only appear in those parts of the reality series that were already taped, sources confirmed to the Hollywood Reporter Monday. (RELATED: #MeToo Leader Allegedly Paid Off A Man She Sexually Assaulted)
The actress will reportedly appear in seven episodes of the show starting September 6, but has been let go and will not appear in any of the live portions, which kick off October 25. A search for a new judge is underway, with an announcement about her replacement expected September 5.
Argento — who accused Harvey Weinstein last October of forcibly performing oral sex on her back in 1997 — made headlines last week following a report in the New York Times that she paid $380,000 to underage actor Jimmy Bennett. In exchange, the young actor would agree not to sue her for allegedly sexually assaulting him when he was 17 in 2013. She was 37 at the time.
The actress responded after the report came out and admitted to a payment, but denied any wrongdoing.
“I am deeply shocked and hurt by having read news that is absolutely false,” the actress’ statement read last week. “I have never had any sexual relationship with Bennett.”
Shortly after, a report surfaced on TMZ that allegedly including text messages between Argento and a friend that appeared to look as though she admitted to having sex with Bennett.
