Report: Trump Fuming Over Lack of Progress on Talks with North Korea

President Donald Trump has privately expressed frustration over the lack of progress on the United States’ talks with North Korea following the president’s historic summit with North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un last month, the Washington Post reports.

North Korea officials have canceled follow-up meetings with U.S. representatives, failed to stay in communication and demanded more money a month after Kim committed to complete denuclearization. North Korea has also reportedly increased fuel production for nuclear missiles at several secret research facilities.

“There’s no evidence that they are decreasing stockpiles, or that they have stopped their production,” one unnamed U.S. official briefed on the latest intelligence told NBC. “There is absolutely unequivocal evidence that they are trying to deceive the U.S.”

The report comes a day after Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that he and Trump remained “upbeat about the prospects of denuclearization of North Korea” and that “progress is happening.”
