Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders refused to endorse his own son for his congressional campaign in New Hampshire, claiming Friday that he doesn’t like “dynastic ruling” and that his son can look out for himself.

After a lengthy policy discussion about healthcare, CNN host Chris Cuomo took a personal and political turn with Sanders.

“Your son’s running for Congress. You say, ‘I won’t endorse him because I don’t like dynastic politics.’ Why? It’s only two of you, I’ve got two of my own family. That’s no dynasty,” Cuomo began.

“Well actually I have more than two,” Bernie said, adding that his son is running on very similar platforms to the elder Sanders. Cuomo then joked Sanders’ son is “like a better looking Bernie.”

“I don’t believe in dynastic politics,” Bernie stated. “He’s on his own.”

Cuomo tried to stir the pot by asking who would be better working for the people, to which Sanders responded, “We’ll let the voters of New Hampshire make that decision.”
