Thuram not in Gladbach squad for cup game, spitting ban looms

France forward Marcus Thuram will not be part of Borussia Moenchengladbach’s squad for Tuesday’s German cup match at lower league Elversberg in connection with a spitting incident. Thuram faces a long ban from the German Football Federation (DFB) over the incident in Saturday’s Bundesliga match against Hoffenheim which could also apply for cup games.
