Comedian Trevor Noah is under fire again for a joke he told about Australian aboriginals in 2013.
A video of him critiquing aboriginals’ appearance surfaced late last week and he’s been trying to patch it over in the days since. (RELATED: Trevor Noah Compares Trump To African Dictator On CNN: ‘Follow The Money’)
The host of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” was called out on social media last week after a video of him doing standup in 2013, where he told a full crowd that “all women of every race can be beautiful,” but continued, “and I know some of you are sitting there now going, ‘Oh Trevor, yeah, but I’ve never seen a beautiful Aborigine.’”
Since the clip resurfaced, social media has been less than kind to the comedian. (RELATED: Trevor Noah Jokes About Chefs At Restaurant ‘Jizzing’ In Sarah Sanders’ Food)
Im Beautiful BECAUSE Im Aboriginal. Im Strong BECAUSE Im Aboriginal.
Im Loved BECAUSE Im Aboriginal.
Im Smart BECAUSE Im Aboriginal.
I am surrounded by Beautiful Aboriginal women who arent punchlines, theyre Warrior Goddesses #BeautifulBECAUSEImAboriginal

I am so disgusted and appalled by the comments by @Trevornoah and his attempted humour that denigrates Aboriginal women I hope Australians boycott his shows in #Brisbane #Sydney #Melbourne #Perth #Australia That kind of ‘humour’ is not funny and does damage! #racismitstopswithme https://t.co/yplwK2CtI7

Noah quickly responded to his comments, and while he didn’t issue a formal apology, he claims to have “vowed never to make a joke like that again.”
@joewilliams_tew you’re right. After visiting Australia’s Bunjilaka museum and learning about aboriginal history first hand I vowed never to make a joke like that again. And I haven’t. I’ll make sure the clip from 2013 is not promoted in any way.

Noah weathered several jokes that aged poorly this summer. Shortly after France won the World Cup, the comedian joked that “Africa won the World Cup,” because of the volume of black players on France’s roster.
