Trial of France's Sarkozy for election spending to resume in May

A trial involving former French president Nicolas Sarkozy, charged with illegal campaign financing, got under way in Paris on Wednesday, two weeks after he was sentenced on separate charges of bribery. However, the trial was postponed almost immediately after it opened on the request of another defendant, who is being treated in hospital for Covid-19, according to French media.
