Turkey imposes partial lockdown for first half of Ramadan as Covid-19 cases surge

Turkey announced further restrictions to halt a dramatic rise in coronavirus cases, imposing a “partial closure” for the first two weeks of the holy month of Ramadan. “The recent rise in the number of infections and deaths, especially in big cities, has forced us to tighten up measures once again,” President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at a press conference after a cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
