US employment crisis hits one-year mark as claims stay elevated

Washington (AFP) – New applications for unemployment benefits in the United States remained high one year into the Covid-19 pandemic, government data said on Thursday, even as the country rolls out vaccines and the economy gets another round of stimulus.
